All things being SQL Episode 4 with Andreas Drakos

09-07-2024|Richard Heritage|3 minute read

Join us for our 2nd episode since our RevOps relaunch of the All things being SQL podcast! Liam and Rich from the commercial team are talking to Andreas Drakos, Senior Director of RevOps at Superside a subscription service bringing top class creative services to some of the worlds largest brands. Andreas built his team from the ground up and they now support over 100 people across sales, CS and marketing. So tune in to learn how he has successfully scaled a multi-function team that firmly sits as part of the executive GTM committee.

What is RevOps to Andreas and where should it report?

Andreas defines RevOps as the right-hand of the CRO, in terms of how they should structure, organise and implement different strategies. They advise on how implementation of strategic decisions affects not just systems but people and support the organisation with enablement. As you can imagine, Andreas backs RevOps to report directly to the CRO, but he explains that it is very much organisation-dependent. At Superside he reports to both the CRO and CMO to ensure alignment.

How to use your data to get a seat at the table

Andreas puts big emphasis on RevOps pro’s taking the career path, rolling their sleeves up to get projects done and taking time to upskill themselves. He focuses on building trust and transparency in all his team do, and in order to build trust, his team have had to take on tasks outside of the typical RevOps remit. Using data is critical to Andreas, but rather than just bringing analysis, you need to bring solutions to problems in order to become a trusted advisor within the business and get your seat at the table.

A problem he’s facing right now

Andreas opens up about a current challenge they have whereby he has scaled his team to the point of having different teams within his 1 RevOps function. The problem is one of balance. How do you ensure everyone has enough knowledge of the entire revenue life cycle to do their jobs effectively without overloading or creating silos.

The biggest opportunities for AI in RevOps

Andreas hopes we are now done with the hype of AI writing emails for us. But there are three areas where he believes AI will genuinely support RevOps:

  • Helping managers and directors to make more data driven decisions.

  • Better understand your ICP and which accounts you should be targeting.

  • Tracking the integrated workflow impacts across the entire tech stack

For Liam and I, the first two points were music to our ears, knowing that Infer is doing this right now for customers. It’s great to see it being needed out in the market.

To wrap up

Andreas is a true leader in the RevOps space and for anyone wanting to further their career in RevOps, this episode is worth a listen and Andreas himself is worth following on LinkedIn.

Join us for the next one which will be released over the coming couple of weeks.
